SGIA (USA) has been running successful boot-camps for several years in the USA, and this will be the launch of the first SGIA Colour Management Bootcamp here in Australia.
"We are seeing consistent industry trends that companies are recognising they can differentiate themselves through colour management,” says SGIAA president Nigel Davies.
“SGIAA has access to tremendous technical resources through our international partners SGIA (USA) and FESPA. We have seized the opportunity to raise the profile of colour and provide our members with access to the quality training needed to manage colour effectively.
"The goal of the course is to develop professionals who understand colour theory and principles and can manage consistent, predictable, and repeatable colour on any system they manage. The course is highly practical with a focus on hands-on profiling, spot colour matching and verification."
Ray Weiss, SGIA (USA) Director of Digital Print programs, will present the first course. “Printers in the United States have found that using proper colour management techniques generates savings in ink, substrates and production times,” Weiss says.
Starleaton has partnered with SGIAA to provide equipment and facilities.

The first course will be in Melbourne 2-4 April at Starleaton’s Melbourne facility and is open to both SGIAA members and non-members.
Starleaton will also hold an open house one night during the training where attendees will get to the chance to work hands-on with latest colour management tools from global leadingbrands such as X-Rite and Eizo.
The ‘Colour Doctor’ David Crowther, a respected colour expert, has been contracted by SGIAA to deliver future training courses under the SGIAA banner.
