Leading Perth signage company Jason Signmakers says in a media statement that it is negotiating with the administrators of Expo Document Copy Centre (Palisade Business Group) to finalise the purchase of the business assets of the well-established Loftus Street, Leederville company, which entered administration on 12 February. A second meeting of creditors is scheduled for March 20th.

“Specialising in small and large format printing, Expo Group [founded 1939] has experienced declining business conditions, as seen throughout the print industry as digital media becomes more mainstream,” said Jason Signmakers in a statement. “Jason Signmakers has established a new entity Expo Signage and Digital Pty Ltd which will provide current and extended new services to Expo Group customers and employees.”

The deal will pave the way for the establishment of WA’s largest, fully integrated signage and print business offering an extended range of services and products to the WA market, says Jason Signmakers in its statement.
The company’s headquarters in Welshpool, Perth covers 8000 sqm and includes on-site design and digital printing technology, sign and panel fabrication, as well as installation and maintenance facilities.
Details of the deal have not yet been released. After entering administration on 12 February, administrators Jack James and Paula Smith from Palisade Business Consulting called the first Expo Group creditors’ meeting on 21 February. They’ve now scheduled a second creditors’ meeting on 20 March, which will consider amongst other things “whether it would be in the creditors' interests for the Company(ies) to execute a deed of company arrangement (DOCA).” Deatails of why Expo Group went into administration are still being sought but Perth sources suggest losses outside of the sign industry by the controlling Trust company may have had an impact. Some printers are owed in excess of $100,000, one source said. More to follow.
