Epson has won its first Red Dot: Best of the Best award in the Product Design category for its SureColor large format printers. In addition, five Epson inkjet printers, one scanner and one projector model also received Red Dot Awards. Designers and companies from 55 countries entered more than 5,500 products in the competition.

"I am thrilled,” said Manabu Kawahara, GM of the Product Design Department in Epson's Printing Solutions Operations Division. “This award is the culmination of a true team effort to achieve product value that exceeds customer expectations. Epson’s SureColor wide format printers last month won two International Forum (iF) Design Awards.
The Red Dot Design Award, created in 1955 in Germany, is organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen design center and is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards in the design field. A jury of experts evaluates products announced during the past two years and selects the best designs based on nine criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecological compatibility, and durability.
