The Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) has called a Special General Meeting of its members during PrintEx to consider changing its name and updating the constitution of the peak industry group.
In a notice posted on the PIAA website, the association said: “In response to recommendations made by the regulators to update the PIAA Rules to align them with modern practice and current legislation, and pursuant to Rule 28 of the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) Rules, the President requests a Special General Meeting (SGM) for 1:00pm – 2:00pm Thursday 15th August 2019 at HUB ONE, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park NSW 2127.”
The first resolution on the SGM agenda - Amend Clause 1 - NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION– will ask members to vote on a proposal to change the name of the association from "The Printing Industries Association of Australia" to "Print and Visual Communications Association.”
Another resolution will consider moving the PIAA’s registered office from Sydney to Melbourne:

The registered office of the Association shall be at 25 South Parade, Auburn, Sydney or such other place as the Board may from time to time determine.
To:
The registered office of the Association shall be at Suite 3, 5-7 Compark Circuit, Mulgrave VIC 3170 or such other place as the Board may from time to time determine.
The meeting will also consider term limits for board members, calculation methods for annual subscriptions and a range of other issues.
All financial members of the Association are invited to be present and any member entitled to attend and vote is entitled to appoint a proxy. The form of Proxy is attached below. Members can appoint their Proxy to the President.
Members who are unable to attend are entitled to nominate a proxy using this form.
Printing Industries will also host its flagship event the National Print Awards later on the same day at PrintEx.
The 36th annual National Print Awards, presented in partnership with Media Super, sees the industry come together to celebrate and award the best in print, visual communications and packaging.
From 6:30pm we will be welcoming guests into the main venue at Waterview in Bicentennial Park, guests are invited to speak exclusively with Media Super and engage with industry members. The evening will commence at 7:00pm with dinner, LIA’s graduate of the year award and the Printing Industries formal presentation ceremony. After the event concludes we will provide bus transport from the venue into the CBD (Central station). The stage is set for An Industry Revolution! and we encourage you to attend with clients, friends and family.
