Melbourne printer Taylor’d Press won five gold medals and the coveted Judge’s Award at the 37th annual National Print Awards, while co-owner Kirsten Taylor was named winner of the inaugural Exceptional Women in Print award.
ColourChiefs of Brisbane won Large Format Printer of the Year.
Digitalpress of Sydney won two golds including Digital Printer of the Year.
Scott Mason of Payne Print was Media Super Young Executive of the Year.
Other gold winners were Impact International, Detpak Cartons, Foot and Playstead, WHO Printing (2), Elikon Fine Printers, Adams Print, Spicers (2), Note Printing Australia, Peacock Bros, Styleprint, Pandoras Boxes, Openbook Howden Print & Design, and By Ninja (2). Taylor'd Press, co-owned by James and Kirsten Taylor (pictured right), is a small family printing business based at Knoxfield in Melbourne’s East that specialises in offset spot colour PMS printing, alongside its Letterpress and Foil stamping Heidelberg presses.
It won the NPA Judge’s Award for its entry Up Banking, an A6 Debit card mailer, offset printed in three spot colours, Letterpressed, Forme cut, Triplexed on Beer matt 400gsm card. It was also Offset Printer of the Year and won more gold medals for Commercial Printing, Stationery Printing, Regional Printer of the Year (Up to 12 employees), and Multi Piece Promotions.
ColourChiefs of Brisbane won the Printer of the Year Large Format category for its entry WSP Offices. Silver went to Styleprint (Victoria), and Kwik Kopy Circular Quay (NSW) took bronze.
Multi-award winning Digitalpress of Sydney was named Printer of the Year Digital for its Spearwood book (see below).
Industry veteran Peter Clark, founder of AIW Printing and a former board member of the PIAA (now PVCA), won the Media Super Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 37th annual National Print Awards was streamed live on Friday night on the Print and Visual Communication Association's (PVCA) Facebook page.
