Julie Rochester, MD of Sign Concepts in Adelaide and former president of the Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA), is the first international judge named for this year’s NZ Sign Display Awards.
“Julie is our first international Judge and we are excited to be forming more of a closer connection with our Australian sign-making industry and association this year,” the NZ Sign & Display Association (NZSDA) told its members.
“Julie is currently the managing director at her sign business which has been operating for over a decade. In 1983, Julie began her sign-making journey by gaining her apprenticeship and has since worked in Adelaide and London developing her skills from gilding of traditional pubs, subcontracting and estimating in a variety of positions including general manager.
“Julie’s business now focuses on steel construction, aluminium fabrication, and spray painting of sign structures, illuminated signs, and 3-dimensional letters. Julie is dedicated to the industry and has been the ASGA SA chair for the last 5 years and was president from 2020 – 2022.
“We welcome Julie as our guest judge and we know she will bring a wealth of knowledge, particularly in the manufacturing side of sign making.”
Entries for the NZ Sign Display Awards are open and close on 15th May, 2023. The awards presentation event, taking place in Auckland on 8 July, recognises outstanding design and craftmanship across a range of sign making methods and technologies.
