HP has announced that Sumo Visual Group, a full service visual solutions provider based in Melbourne, Australia, has installed the HP Scitex FB10000 industrial press at its Victoria, Australia, printing facility.
The new machine is the company’s first HP press and will allow Sumo Visual Group to take on more high-volume sign and display work within the retail sector by enabling faster turnaround times and higher throughput with high image quality.
Founded in 2003, the 100-percent-digital retail specialist print shop previously had to turn away some work due to the volume of demand from customers and tight client turnaround times. Additionally, the retail clients who comprise 70 percent of Sumo Visual Group’s customer base needed frequent changes to their marketing and in-store branding messages because of stock changes, meaning that flexibility and speed were critical.
The company prides itself on high quality digital printing and its wide customer base. The HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Press will enable Sumo Visual Group to produce short-run jobs and deliver them quickly to retail clients. Installed in December 2013, the HP Scitex is generating turnaround times up to four times faster than Sumo Visual Group’s existing portfolio of digital printers. The new HP printing press can turn around a job of 1,000 B1 sheets (1,500 x 3,000mm) in less than two hours.
“Sumo Visual Group has a vision of being the partner of choice, to deliver visual solutions internationally, for the world’s best companies,” said Gary Fawcett, national sales director, Sumo Visual Group. “However, as a business, we realised we couldn’t continue to grow at the same pace without a high speed press. We were lacking the workhorse that would empower us to say yes to customers asking for an entire campaign, which could include several hundred banners, posters, signs and point-of-sale (POS) displays, within two days. The HP Scitex FB10000 ticks all the boxes—incredibly high speed, power and throughput, plus great image quality.”
The HP Scitex FB10000 features the Scitex High Dynamic Range Printing Technology, which guarantees superior image quality and perfectly matched corporate colours. Sumo Visual Group also has invested in new prepress software and cutting and finishing equipment to work alongside the new HP Scitex press. The new equipment has dramatically improved workflow and increased efficiency, significantly reducing the time taken to deliver printed products to customers.
“We chose the HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Press to reassure our clients that we can help them meet the tight deadlines crucial to the success of their campaigns,” said Fawcett. “Our speed to market raises the bar in the industry as a whole.”
