The Imaging and Digital Entertainment Association (IDEA) has begun marketing of the biennial Digital Show, to be staged at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from October 16-18, 2015.

Billed as the “Largest Technology Event in the Southern Hemisphere,” The Digital Show expands on the success of the 2013 event which saw attendance rocket up to over 22,000. Workshops and theatre presentation areas were standing-room only and the show was hailed as a breakthrough event for consumer and professional image-makers alike.

James Murray, President of IDEA says: “The 2013 Digital Show clearly demonstrated the demand for consumer and advanced amateur-level still and video photography from all walks of life. No longer the protected enclave of trained imaging professionals alone; digital technology has enabled consumers and enthusiasts to own and use image capture equipment of astonishing quality and resolution. Of course, the trained skilled professional will always be in demand and, thanks to our alliance with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers; the knowledge-sharing will be in abundance.”

The AIPP will again present the Australian Professional Photographer Awards, sponsored by Canon and, for 2015, will be joined by other competitions and galleries that reflect the aspirations and creativity of both still and video image makers.
The 2015 Digital Show will once again house a print gallery that will display the serenity and permanence of the printed image, with the addition of an inspirational digital still and video gallery initiative. The Digital Show’s presentation theatre has been upgraded to seat 400 in front of two giant screens, following high demand at the 2013 event. Another new feature is the inclusion of four Creative Learning Centres, each running three hands on workshops per day. To ensure learning retention, these classes are limited to twenty delegates each.
Show co-organiser and IDEA Vice-President Robert Gatto comments: “Amidst all of the latest technology from world-leading brands, there has never been so much inspirational work on display to fire the imaginations of photographers and videographers. We expect another record attendance from an expanded audience of Gadget & Tech lovers, Enthusiast and Amateur Photographers, Professional Photographers, Industry and Trade suppliers."
Industry heavyweight brands have already committed to the show with the list of other exhibiting companies growing by the week.
Online registration for the Digital Show will begin in mid 2015 with an early bird rate of just $10. Entry at the door will be $20. As the theatre presentations, speakers and workshops are finalized in early 2015, the programme will be available online. An intensive social media, online and out-of-home advertising programme will spread awareness from July.
