Spandex announces two new hires for its growing WA branch, based in Malaga, Perth.
Russell Denby-Horwell joins as Area Sales Manager while Pete Southam takes over the vital role of Warehouse Manager.
Denby-Horwell hails from the UK where, following his printing apprenticeship, he worked for many years at HMSO (Her Majesty’s Stationery Office), where he was responsible for key security document accounts producing passports and other security documentation for the UK Government.

He then moved into print management and again into security products such as 3D lenticular and holograms. After a spell as General Manager for a large UK print finishing site, and with a young family and Australian wife; he made the big move to Perth where he worked for a plan printing and document company before joining Spandex.
“When the opportunity to join Spandex came up, there was no doubt in my mind that it was the company and role for me,” says Denby-Horwell. “Spandex is well-known and respected in the UK and Europe as a supplier to the sign graphics and display industry and the team here is obviously very talented and dedicated. It’s a pleasure to be on board and I look forward to meeting with customers to discuss our great range of products and services.”
Former Australian Army ‘Quartermaster’ Pete Southam brings his military precision to the post of Warehouse Manager with Spandex WA. Southam has also managed warehouses in the pharmaceutical, mining, freight and mail order sectors where thousands of SKUs must be managed and handled logistically.
He says: “My 14 years in stores and logistics with the Australian Army taught me all about supply chain management and urgency. The following years in commercial logistics has honed these skills and I look forward to bringing all I have to offer to this role with Spandex WA.”
Southam is a world-traveler and a keen sportsman with Volleyball, Squash, anything on/in the water and Motorcycling chief among his interests.
Spandex Managing Director Alex McClelland welcomes the new staff, saying: “Our WA branch is growing handsomely following our move into bigger premises in Malaga last year. Eventually, it will service all of WA and south-east Asia. With the joining of Russell and Pete in their respective roles, we are greatly strengthened and I welcome them to the Spandex family.”
