HP used the SGIA show in Orlando, Florida to announce their new HP Scitex XL2200 Super Wide Format Industrial Printer featuring the new HP Scitex X2 printhead technology as well as the new HP Scitex TJ8300/8500 Double Sided Upgrade which they say further extends HPs Print 2.0 strategy by empowering print service providers (PSPs) to address diverse markets and target new, high margin applications.
"As part of our overall imaging and printing strategy, we are committed to delivering new products and technologies that help our customers build their digital difference throughout the commercial and industrial graphic markets," said Yariv Avisar, vice president and general manager, Large Format Printing Industrial Solutions, HP Imaging and Printing Group. "With HPs latest graphic arts solutions, we are further strengthening our position as the one-stop-shop for all large format printing solutions and helping customers capture success by offering greater flexibility, durability and confidence to extend their application range and thus better service their customers than ever before."
HP stated that the XL2200 is a top-of-the-line digital UV system, maximising speeds and cost effectiveness for end-users. Capable of printing 4,300 sqft/hr (400 sqm/hr) in 2-pass mode, and designed for 24/7 productivity with minimal operator intervention, the HP Scitex XL2200 Printer is the most productive digital solution with market-leading speed for billboards and building wraps, and higher quality outdoor signage, making it a strategic investment for digital printers, screen printers, and printers who want to enter the outdoor advertising market.
The XL2200 is the basis of a new UV printer series, offering Print Service Providers a UV technology growth path to meet their evolving customer needs. It features the new HP Scitex X2 printhead, which combines proven silicon-based Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology utilised in semiconductor manufacturing and innovative piezoelectric inkjet technology from HP. The horizontal printhead carriage includes 128 unique HP Scitex X2 drop-on-demand piezoelectric inkjet printheads to maximise speed and efficiency.
The printer uses dedicated environmentally-friendly UV-curable HP Scitex UV221 Supreme inks. With two year outdoor durability, the new water- and abrasion-resistant UV inks cure with light exposure and do not require large drying systems, which improves workflow efficiency and saves space.
Leveraging the companys portfolio expertise, HP developed and manufactured the HP Scitex XL2200 printer, the drop-on-demand piezoelectric HP Scitex X2 printheads, and the UV-curable HP Scitex UV221 Supreme inks to provide an economic advantage for customers and create a complete, optimised printing solution that ensures full system compatibility.
Maximising potential with two-sided printing
HP is also announcing at SGIA a new double-sided printing enhancement for the HP Scitex TJ series, enabling users to target a broader set of applications, including indoor and outdoor displays, exhibition booth decorations, banners, and digital and screen prints.
The new Hp Scitex TJ Double Sided Upgrade is a dedicated upgrade available for existing and new HP Scitex TJ8300/TJ8500 devices, and includes a combination of hardware, software, installation, and training. With a quick and easy process to switch between roll-to-sheet printing and sheet-to-sheet printing, the upgrade enables complete workflow management by a single operator. In addition, it provides even greater differentiation and versatility in service offerings with the added capability to produce accurate, high-quality two-sided prints, maximising device utilisation while also optimising total cost of ownership.
