“We’ve forged a strong relationship with Penguin Random House that stretches back 25 years, and we’re delighted that we have not only renewed but expanded the terms of our partnership. The publishing industry has changed rapidly over the last years, and PMP’s investments over the past two years have helped Griffin develop the capabilities and capacity needed to provide the solutions Penguin Random House was looking for.”
As part of the ASX-listed media, marketing and printing group PMP Limited, Griffin Press has extended its printing capabilities and integrated more closely with its parent company to become a holistic solution for its customers, offering a range of print options from specialised digital printing, print on demand, highspeed inkjet and conventional web offset printing.
Griffin’s impressive technology line-up at its plant in South Australia includes a HP Indigo 10000 B2 sheetfed digital press, HP Indigo 7800 digital press, a web-fed HP PageWide T410 inkjet, a Scodix Ultra Pro digital embellisher, a Kolbus web folder and perfect binder finishing line.
These significant investments in latest printing technology mean the company can print a book of one up to 500,000 copies per print run, while providing specialised embellishments for book covers. As one of the largest publishing houses in Australia, this volume capability and flexibility was appealing to Penguin Random House.
“We continue to be impressed with Griffin’s commitment to innovation and agile approach to printing, given the ever-changing environment,” said Gavin Schwarcz, sales & operations director at Penguin Random House. “We believe it is important to partner with a company that is focused on setting up strong foundations for future success. In light of this we are really pleased to continue working with Griffin and getting the best new books into the hands of Australian readers.”
The deal means Griffin will continue to print the publisher’s range of books, including hardcover and paperback titles by some of Australia and the world’s leading authors such as Dan Brown, Tim Winton, Stephen Hawking, Fiona McIntosh, Leigh Sales, Zadie Smith, Lee Childs, Carrie Fisher and James Patterson.
