The Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA) has called a meeting of its members in Brisbane next week to address new federal building code legislation relating to Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding. The breakfast meeting follows well-attended ASGA events in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.
The new Building Construction Code was introduced last year to limit the spread of fires caused by ACM cladding sheets on the outside of buildings. ACM, commonly used in indoor and outdoor signage applications, has a polyethylene core sandwiched between two thin aluminium panels.
ASGA says the signage industry has been “caught in the net” of the new legislation.
