Mutoh launches dual head dye sub printer - here next month

Mutoh has released the XpertJet 1682WR, a 162cm-wide, 8 channel piezo drop-on-demand roll-fed dye sublimation inkjet printer - the successor to Mutoh’s award winning ValueJet 1638WX dye sub printer. It's due to arrive in Australia in May and Mutoh Australia is now accepting pre-orders.

Metal 3D printers to produce ‘warfighters’ and weapons barrels

ASTRO America will manage a new U.S. Army initiative to build the world’s largest metal 3D printer to produce combat ground vehicle hulls. The announcement comes two weeks after Australian 3D printer manufacturer Titomic signed a deal with a Turkish company for the manufacture of weapons system barrels.

Guten celebrates Googleberg

This week, the mighty Google is celebrating the achievements of Johannes Gutenberg, with its customary snappy illustration when you open the search engine, linking to a search result page about him. Gutenberg started the whole print revolution, around 1440 AD.

Who’s who of printing on board for virtual.drupa

More than 200 exhibitors from 33 countries have confirmed for next week’s virtual.drupa (20 to 23 April 2021). “We are very pleased about the recent registrations of outstanding exhibitors and important global players such as HP Inc. and Israel-based Landa Digital Printing,” says Sabine Geldermann, project director print technologies at organiser Messe Düsseldorf.

Epson EcoTank printers win Red Dot for product design

Epson’s popular EcoTank printers – featured in comedian Jimeoin’s ‘No Cartridges’ TV ads - have won a prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 - awarded to only a small fraction of approximately 7,800 entries. The company’s document scanners and professional photo printers have also been recognised.

Mimaki to unveil new wide format printers at virtual.drupa

Mimaki will introduce two new printers at the first virtual.drupa (20-23 April), designed to "open new application opportunities in the large format and fashion industries.” No further details have yet been released. The company’s interactive booth at virtual drupa will also feature its new 100 series.

Industrial printer shipments down 35% in 2020 - IDC report

According to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Industrial Printer Tracker, industrial printer products in Australia and New Zealand unit shipments fell 35% YoY in 2020. Market Analyst Faris Latief has researched shipment in Graphics, CAD, Industrial Textile, Direct-to-Shape, Direct-to-Garment and Labels & Packaging. The good news is that shipments and installations are on the rise again.
