Waratah liquidator goes after suburban print shop

The liquidator, Shane Deane of Dye&Co, of failed Melbourne print group Waratah Group - the convoluted Group of several printers that went bust in March 2020 owing an estimated $22 million amid claims of corruption and backhanders - has lodged a wind-up application on Oakleigh, Vic family printer Genuine Print. With larger targets such as Australia Post, Spotlight Group and St Vincent's Hospital disputing phantom invoices, it appears that the liquidator is going for a 'soft' target.

oOh! cuts losses, revenue up 18% as audiences rebound

Outdoor company oOh!media - owner of wide format business Cactus Imaging - says the continuing recovery in Out of Home audiences delivered an 18% lift in revenue to $504 million for the year ended 31 December 2021, with earnings before tax up 24% to $77.6m (compared to the prior year). Reported loss after tax was $10.3m, compared to loss of $36.2m in the prior year.

2nd annual Wide-format Summit set for July in Florida

Following the success of the inaugural event, the US-based PRINTING United Alliance has announced dates for the second annual Wide-format Summit, taking place July 25-27, 2022, at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The live event will focus on technologies including soft signage and production display graphics.

ACCC joins global investigation of price fixing in supply chains

The nations of the Five Eyes alliance have stepped up efforts to prevent anti-competitive conduct in the supply and distribution of goods with a new partnership between Australian competition watchdog the ACCC, the US Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Canadian Competition Bureau, NZ Commerce Commission and UK Competition and Markets Authority.  

More employee theft: former Civic Outdoor executive charged in $200,000 rort

There has been a spate of employee fraud and embezzlement cases in recent months. The latest one concerns prominent Melbourne signage and outdoor company Civic Outdoor and its parent Civic Signs Pty Ltd. The Herald Sun reports that Leanne Quinn, a former National Sales Manager with Civic Outdoor faces 249 charges of theft.

Ricoh launches Its first plant-based inkjet ink

The biodegradable, quick drying, odour-free ink is a derivative of the oil-based ink created as part of Ricoh’s collaboration with German manufacturer Olbrich. It’s now available across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Triple EDM Awards for Zünd automated cutting tools

Kornit Digital reports record Q4 & full-year results
